Togetha Client Stories
We love helping our customers and sharing what we have done to help them achieve their outcomes. This customer story is about how we assisted Plant Health Australia migrate from an on-premise solution to Atlassian Cloud.
Who are Plant Health Australia
Plant Health Australia was formed in 2000 to address priority plant health issues with industry, Australian Government and all state and territory governments. They are a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to contribute to policy making, strategy and direction with all major plant health issues for Australia. These issues include; Australian biosecurity, management of weeds and pests and strategies for protecting Australian national forests and plants. Outlining The Challenge Togetha
PHA have been using Atlassian Server products (Jira Software, Confluence and Jira Service Management) for many years and their on-premise solution had served them well. However, PHA was on a mission to reduce the management of physical and virtual infrastructure to enable staff concentrate on higher value work. PHA wanted minimal changes to their Atlassian configuration, so a no-fuss migration to Atlassian’s Cloud and SaaS solutions would have minimal to zero disruption (preferably none) for the external users of their Service Desk (provided by JSM).
The Togetha Solution
PHA engaged Togetha to undertake the migration. Our team was given access to their on-premise solutions and planning began with an assessment of Apps and major functionality. Key functionality included accepting email requests from Microsoft Outlook shared mailboxes and for data to be held in Australia. Some on-premise Apps were not required in Atlassian’s Cloud solutions due to Atlassian’s continued investment in their Cloud offerings.
The PHA and Togetha teams worked very closely together, undertaking a rapid initial migration to a Cloud sandbox instance, identifying and adjusting for any problems. The migration occurred over a weekend and went very smoothly with no service requests tickets lost and no impact to PHA users of their service desk. The close collaboration between the teams enabled an efficient resolution. PHA achieved all their objectives with the Atlassian Cloud solution replacing the on-premise solution. This has resulted in dramatically reduced work for PHA IT staff, along with reduced hardware and software costs.
We are extremely proud of the work we delivered and are delighted to have Plant Health Australia as a Togetha client. We enjoy these nimble projects which underpin the delivery and support of important institutions that work hard behind the scenes to help enrich Australia’s natural diversity.

Apps used
Customers should note that certain Apps may have data stored outside of Atlassian systems, so it is important to review what data is stored by the App vendors and where that data resides. It is part of our standard practice to review such details on customer’s behalf to make it easy for clients and ensure confidence their data is secure and kept within Australia.
